It would have been better for them to insist that they wanted to really cut down the tree. That's understandable, not a good thing to do and I disagree, but understandable. At least they are being honest.
But what they are saying is "No, we won't cut it". But what they are eventually doing is killing it by pouring concret over it.
This is subterfuge at its finest. So for all those lectures they give on honesty and environmental sustainability eklat, lokohan lang pala...Students should get a student refund.
Yeah I was also wondering why they didn't just cut it. As you said, it would be bad but understandable. But going through this great lengths of building around a tree is totally ridiculous. They deserve whatever bad press that they will receive.
