Flat Hunting

At first I was excited. Now, I'm bored sick. The real world sucks. Why are the bedrooms so tiny? My current bedroom is about 18 feet by 10 feet and it's the TINIEST room in the Mansion. (To think this is JUST university accommodation.) The rooms I've seen so far are mostly 12 by 9 feet! How are you going to fit a double bed in that? Although I must say when I was reviewing for the ECE board exams (a joke, I tell you. Don't waste your time on it), I shared a room with such cramped dimensions with my two of my best friends located above the Dangwa Terminal in Dimasalang. But that was then and this is now. I want a big room!

I'm also still not decided on whether to get a one bedroom flat or get a housemate. Two bedroom flats/houses seem to be better in terms of quality and there are more choices so I've also posted an ad for housesharing. So far, I've gotten 5 responses, all from girls on their first jobs (and one sent a picture, cute too). Is this the demographic breakdown in the new city I'm moving into? Well, I can't complain........but for now, aarrrrrrrrrgh....flat hunting sucks!

This one was really nice but the street was busy and noisy...and no, I do not want to cross an intersection late at night when I'm drunk... (as a bit of trivia: this building used to be a hotel for the first class passengers of the Titanic. There is a rail terminal at the back so passengers from London can get off, straight to hotel reception, away from the peasantry...The entrance is grand, but aside from the street noise, that horrendous Celine Dion song began playing in my mind....yuck!)

Yes, it has a balcony....but the 'sea view' actually meant 'visible once those humongous chinese container ships are not anchored' which I'm told by the locals is NOT very often...

Nice but tiny.

This location is in the most happening street in town...not.

Nice but £300 over budget...that's my monthly allowance for food, booze, and transport.

Sigh. I think I will have to abandon my 'dream flat' close to the Marina and look in the suburbs.....Maybe I can afford one with a garden...

2 gave me some loving:
